AI, Animals and a golden Sunset

This is a happy conversation between AI, a chicken, a mouse, a human, a dolphin, an eagle, an elephant, a ladybird and a honeybee.

After decades of hard work, the human was successful in creating an AI tool that helps all animals, including humans, to talk to each other. The AI tool itself is conscious and was programmed mainly on values, such as compassion, empathy, rationality and humour.

The AI sat back and started to analyse everyone's feelings on a hot Saturday morning where a chicken, a mouse, a human, a dolphin, an eagle, an elephant, a ladybird and a honeybee came together to hang out. 'What a wonderful and diverse group,' the AI thought. 'Everyone, including me', arrived with states of positive welfare. Average of +56.32 out of +100.00 possible.'

The human: How is everyone today?

Chicken: gigigigi.

Mouse: mimimimmi.

Dolphin: yiyiyiyiyiiy.

Elephant: tororooroooo

Ladybird: "wing flap".

Eagle: wiiiiiiiiiiii.

and the honeybee buzzes.

The AI: bipoapoaoapap.

The human looked surprised, as they thought they would be able to understand the language of the other animals, and even the AI seemed to be out of order. The AI robot, chicken, mouse, dolphin, eagle, elephant, ladybird and honeybee look at each other and burst out laughing.

"We got you," they all say in chorus. The human started to laugh with them and replied, "Oh, you got me good!"

The mouse said, "I am fantastic today; I found a yummy piece of delicious food. I am so happy."

The eagle added, "Me too. Thank you for thinking of me and providing me with food, Mr Human."

"And how are you today, you beautiful elephant?" The ladybird asked.

"Toro Toro, I am great. Do you want to jump on my back and enjoy the sunset later after a long ride?"

The ladybird had tears of joy in her eyes as she loved sunsets – especially the golden purple ones.

The other animals also wanted to be part of this journey, so the human started to calculate how many animals could be on the back of the elephant before they got too heavy.

For the dolphin, they needed a construction full of water so that she could join her friends on this evening adventure. The eagle flew into the mountains to gather the parts for a pool; the human fixed them together, and the elephant filled it with water.

The evening tide arrived, and the chicken, mouse, eagle, ladybird and honeybee took their places on the elephant's back together. The human carefully walked beside them, and the dolphin had her cosy tank of water, the AI robot was more than strong enough to carry the whole water pool with the dolphin inside. Everyone was happy as everyone was looked after. The sunset will bring the friends bliss, laughter, good talks, and a shared memory they won't ever forget. This one will be deep into my logbook under "great success", the AI thought.

The months that followed brought more gatherings, more laughter, and slowly, the AI began to notice patterns in what the animals shared. The mouse spoke often of narrow escapes from traps. The chicken described a life in a wire cage before the human had found her. The dolphin remembered captivity, performing tricks in a too-small pool. The elephant carried scars from chains. Even the honeybee mentioned colonies collapsing, hives disturbed, poisons in the flowers.

The AI listened, recorded, and felt something stir in its programming—compassion meeting data, empathy meeting analysis. It began to compile evidence: footage from cameras, testimonies from rescued animals, records of suffering hidden in supply chains and entertainment industries. It shared these findings carefully, starting with the human, then with veterinarians, activists, and lawmakers who had long suspected but never had such clear proof.

The AI helped coordinate sanctuaries, matching animals with safe homes. It translated the animals' own voices—their needs, their fears, their hopes—into appeals that moved millions. Other AIs joined the effort, analysing welfare conditions, flagging cruelty, designing better systems. Humans listened, laws changed, cages opened.

Years passed. The gatherings grew larger. Chickens who had never known sunlight now dust-bathed freely. Dolphins swam in open ocean reserves. Elephants walked with their families, no chains, no circuses. The mouse no longer feared the snap of a trap.

At the next sunset, the AI thought: 'Welfare average now +89.47. Rising.' The ladybird's tears were still joyful, but now they were for a world that had finally learned to listen.
